SUPPORTING STINGLESS BEES & INDIGENOUS BEEKEEPING

SUPPORTING STINGLESS BEES & INDIGENOUS BEEKEEPING

The London Honey Company are proud, longtime supporters of the incredible charity Bees for Development, who, since 1993 have been helping people out of poverty through beekeeping.

Our support of the charity continues in 2026, with a campaign that directly supports and raises awareness of 'stingless bees', and the indigenous-led beekeeping communities that are helping to protect Peru's Amazon Rainforest.

Stingless bees are native to the Amazon and are key pollinators of the Amazon Rainforest. Cultivated by Indigenous peoples since pre-Columbian times, sustaining biodiversity and ecosystem health.

Bees for Development, are strengthening Indigenous-led stingless beekeeping across Kukama-Kukamiria and Ashaninka territories; training new beekeepers, supporting experienced meliponicultores, and expanding community bee sanctuaries that protect thousands of hectares of standing rainforest.

Stingless bees from the Amazon have become the first insects to be granted legal rights anywhere in the world, in a breakthrough supporters hope will be a catalyst for similar moves to protect bees elsewhere.
